Preference "2" Development Update

US Spine has licensed a new locking technology, called a Helical Phlange, to be integrated into the next generation of our Preference Spine System. The new Helical Phlange closure top is much stronger and reliable, and eliminates head-splay and cross-threading, a common problem with traditional set screws.

Helical Phlange technology creates an interlocking coupling between the closure top and the headbody of the screw (see illustration above), for a secure grip on the rod, without the customary head splay associated with traditional polyaxial screws. There are only a handful of spine systems currently on the market using this new technology, giving US Spine a significant edge in a very crowded market.

Along with the Helical Phlange technology, US Spine will also release new instruments, sterilization trays, and Crosslinks, making the Preference Spine System one of the finest in the market. The rollout for the new system is expected to begin at NASS in Seattle, at the end of September.
