How Long Do DataTrace Temperature Data Loggers Retain Their Factory Calibration?

Yellow Sign

DataTrace Micropack III temperature data loggers, or "Tracers," retain their calibration for a year or more — one of many unique features that only Mesa Laboratories' data logging systems offer. All data logging devices must be routinely recalibrated in order to maintain accuracy of measurements.

Tracers returned to Mesa's facilities for routine recalibration or recertification are often checked for calibration accuracy prior to any maintenance. This initial state is indicative of the long term stability of the Tracer. Stored in secure database, this information provides a comprehensive history of each Tracer's performance and durability.

To gain insight into the long term stability of their devices, Mesa Laboratories examined the calibration data from Micropack III Temperature Tracers. To ensure that the results represented all Tracers, a random selection of calibration data was extracted and analyzed. The results demonstrated that 70 percent of the Tracers maintained their published accuracy (+/- 0.1°C) for more than a year, and that 99 percent maintained better than +/- 0.5°C accuracy.

Mesa Laboratories recommends that DataTrace Micropack III data logging devices be returned to their facilities for recalibration on an annual basis.
