Content Meets Unique Client Needs

At the hub of that effort stands Dawn Cyr. Cyr, who joined Proven Systems as content manager in May, is the link that provides clear communication between clients and writers. By shepherding every article through the writing process, as well as managing and mentoring writers, Cyr helps the Proven Systems team do the heavy lifting of newsletter production.

Cyr, who holds a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Communication Development from Colorado State University, has a wide-ranging background. She has been a university-level writing and literature instructor, a marketing communicator, an editorial assistant in the book publishing industry and a copy editor for an IT magazine.

But it was in her position as senior editor for SQL Server Magazine that she really learned how to work with writers.

"You get to work so closely with writers – you get to be familiar with their style, to know what quirks they have and how to apply problem-solving skills to inspire them," Cyr said.

Cyr's work at Proven Systems has taken those skills to another level. She works closely with our writers so articles can be tailored to each client's needs. To accomplish this, Cyr knows how to guide writers to create the articles for each eNewsletter.

"Our team works closely with our clients to make sure that each particular article is timely, applies to the client's industry and is relevant to the client's readers," Cyr said. "One of our focuses in my job is to make sure that specific information gets passed on to writers as clearly as possible so they can produce work that meets clients' expectations and keeps readers informed and interested."

Although Cyr remains prepared to match clients' specifications, she is also always ready to develop strong article topics for clients who come to Proven Systems without specific ideas in mind.

"For some clients, Proven Systems does all of the background work. Through research, I will find topics that will be substantive and useful to the readers," Cyr said.

Cyr sees Proven Systems eNewsletters as the perfect way for clients to tell important stories.

"I think eNewsletters tell an ongoing story, a story of how your business is serving customers and how it is valuable," she said. "All of the pieces that go into our newsletters – tips, best practices, informational articles – they all serve to create that story over time."

And that story, Cyr said, is a fun one to tell.

"When I see an eNewsletter go out, it's a huge deal to see that we produced such a high-quality product – a product that we know will improve the client's business as well as readers' lives," she said. "It's just a great experience."
