Princeton University
DeNunzio Pool at Princeton University was built in 1990 and has hosted major swimming and diving events throughout its history. Events include the 1999 Ivy League Swimming and Diving Championships as part of the League's 25th anniversary of women's athletics, as well as the 2005 Ivy League Championships. But the pool equipment was quickly becoming outdated — Princeton needed the newest timing and scoring equipment as well as a new display board that could provide entertainment value for the audience.
New EquipmentCTS designed the aquatic system and supplied the facility with pace clocks, start systems, timing systems, touchpads, relay judging platforms, and a video display board. The newly installed 25mm RGB full-color video display is capable of displaying a wide range of images that include: DVDs, scoring information, and live camera feeds with or without scoring overlays. DeNunzio Pool Aquatics Director, Bruce Carney, was convinced that CTS could provide the upgrade they needed. "As an Ivy League school, it is important that we have state-of-the-art equipment throughout our facility," said Carney. "The Colorado solution was the best available, and at a great price." With the 2005 Ivy League Championships approaching, CTS had to work quickly to have the board installed prior to the prestigious event. "The staff at Colorado Time Systems have been wonderful to work with," Carney said.
SpecializedA CTS consultant reviewed the initial design, and made detailed suggestions on the equipment that needed to be upgraded and the scoreboard/video display, which is an impressive 10- x 15- foot or 128 x 288 pixel board. "CTS designed a solution that would upgrade our entire system and bring in entertainment value for our audience," Carney said. "The video display is incredible. I know that there are other video displays available, but our display exceeds the others in clarity and functionality. We are very impressed." DeNunzio Pool at Princeton University measures 50 meters by 25 yards with a minimum depth of nine feet and a maximum depth of 17 feet. DeNunzio Pool features:
The competition pool and diving well are equipped with complete timing, scoring and display systems that include: Touchpads, touchpad caddy, relay judging platforms with Speedlights, Championship start systems, System 6 Timing System with Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, Synchro, and Pace Clock software, QuickStart, pace clocks, and a 25mm RGB video display. "The video display has well exceeded our expectations," Carney said. "Upgrading our equipment was one of the best decisions we could have made. The new video board guaranteed compatibility with all of our existing timing and scoring equipment." |
