In Memoriam

Mike, Renee, and dogs

Former Colorado Time Systems employee Mike Jarrett passed away Feb. 19, 2005, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland, Colorado, after a short illness. He was 61.

According to CTS International Sales Manager Paul Rubel, Mike started his career at CTS as a salesman for CTS' swim timing systems. "Mike developed very close relationships with his customers, and he would instantly recognize them by their voices when they called," said Paul. "He was very detail-oriented and made certain the customers' orders were complete before they shipped out the door."

Mike left CTS a year and a half ago. His last manager, Vida Stanton, said she really enjoyed working with him. "He was a very nice, hard-working man," Vida said. "One of the things I am always going to remember are the idioms he taught me. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He is definitely going to be missed — I personally am going to miss him. I wish his family strength to go through this."

Originally from St. Joseph, Missouri, Mike began his career at Snorkel Fire Equipment Company. Other companies he worked for included Snap-Tite Hose Company, Hurst Performance Company and Super Vacuum Manufacturing Company in Loveland. Mike went to work for CTS in 1984, selling and coordinating installations of swimming timing equipment. He recently attained his state insurance agent ranking and was working for Primerica when he passed away.

Paul Rubel remembers that Mike loved to travel for CTS. "He was especially proud of the trips to the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Hawaii, in which he participated in the installation of the products and the training of the local personnel in the operation of the equipment," Paul said. "Because of the knowledge he accumulated in both sales and installations, Mike, in his later years at CTS, became the coordinator of all installation projects. Mike will always be remembered as a friendly, easy-to-get-along-with person."

Martha Rakowski in CTS Customer Support remembers that Mike loved synchronized swimming. "He was so great at working with all the swimming organizations," she said.

During his life he had attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserves in 1969 as sergeant E-5, radio communications. He held a private pilot's license and was a past associate member of the Northern Colorado Firefighters Association. While living in the mountains, he was a member of local road and water associations and helped form a fire district to become a part of the Loveland Rural Fire Protection District.

He married Renee Miller on July 4, 1978, and moved to Loveland in 1979. He loved flying, sailing his boat on the various lakes, snow skiing and living in the mountains.

He requested that those wishing to continue helping others send donations to the Loveland Rural Fire District in care of Greg White, secretary, at 1423 W. 29th St., Loveland, 80537. Specify "Use for Equipment."
